VideoFrameExtractor is a free, independent tool that lets you upload a video file from your own device and pull out any single frame as a still image — computed entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no cost.
You choose a video file (MP4, WebM, or MOV) from your own device. The page loads it locally with the browser's built-in <video> element, lets you scrub a seek bar or step forward/backward one frame at a time, and when you click "Grab this frame," draws exactly that frame onto an in-page canvas and exports it as a downloadable PNG or JPG. A batch mode automates stepping to several evenly-spaced points across the whole video and lets you download the results together as a ZIP.
This tool only ever works on a video file you already have on your device. It has no field for a YouTube link, a TikTok URL, or any other platform address, and it makes no attempt to fetch, download, or scrape video from another website. That's a deliberate scope limit, not an oversight — pulling frames from someone else's hosted video that way raises real copyright and terms-of-service questions that a simple "upload your own file" tool sidesteps entirely.
Anyone who shot or owns a video clip and wants one exact moment from it as a still — a thumbnail for a project, a meme frame, a reference photo pulled from footage you filmed, a storyboard frame, or a quick set of preview images from a longer clip.
Every video you process is handled entirely on your own device — nothing is uploaded to, or stored on, our servers, because there is no server-side video processing at all. See the full privacy policy for the complete picture, including the one third-party network request the page does make (loading the JSZip library code for the ZIP-download feature, which never includes your video or frames).
